1. System Requirements
Q1. What are the system requirements for running "MUSIC PLAYER"?

A1. Click here for details on system requirements for "MUSIC PLAYER". We recommend that you run your computer with an AC power source when using "MUSIC PLAYER".
Also note that you will not be able to enter sleep mode while using "MUSIC PLAYER".


Q2. What access rights do I need to use "MUSIC PLAYER" with Windows 2000 Professional / Windows XP Professional / Windows XP Home Edition systems?

A2. You must log on to your computer with Administrator rights to install "MUSIC PLAYER". You must log on to your computer with Administrator or Power User rights to use "MUSIC PLAYER". On Windows XP Home Edition system, you need Administrator rights to use "MUSIC PLAYER".


Q3. What should I keep in mind when altering my PC configuration, such as operating system upgrades or system restoration?

A3. Make sure you create backups of your Music Library before altering your system, and restore your backups afterwards using the "Backup Restore tool" which you can find in the "MUSIC PLAYER" folder of the "Start" menu programs. Failure to do this will result in your tracks being deleted.

2. Installing and Uninstalling
Q1. I can't install "MUSIC PLAYER", I received the following error message. Because "OpenMG compliant application" such as "SonicStage", "NetMD Simple Burner" or "OpenMG Jukebox" is running, please first exit the program and then restart setup.

A1. Because "OpenMG compliant application" is running, you can't install "MUSIC PLAYER". Please exit all programs, including any programs running in the Windows Task-Tray, then restart setup.

Q2. How do I change the language setting for the "MUSIC PLAYER" interface?

A2. Uninstall "MUSIC PLAYER" following the instructions of Q4 and reinstall. When prompted, you can select your language preference.


Q3. Can I save tracks to external hard drive or removable drive?

A3. Saving tracks to external hard drive or removable drive (e.g. MO drive) is not recommended, as it may alter the drive letter and prevent you from listening to the tracks.


Q4. How do I uninstall "MUSIC PLAYER"?

A4. From the Control Panel, open "Add/Remove Programs" and select "MUSIC PLAYER" to uninstall the software. The "OpenMG Secure Module" program, which is automatically installed with "MUSIC PLAYER", will not be uninstalled. Note that uninstalling "OpenMG Secure Module" will disable playback and transfer of tracks imported with "MUSIC PLAYER" and make OpenMG compliant applications such as Sonic Stage unavailable.

3. Handling Tracks
Q1. Is it safe to move the folders containing track files, or to rename the track files?

A1. Do not move the folders containing track files, or rename the track files, as this will disable playback of the tracks.


Q2. Can I move my Music Library to another computer?

A2. If you want to move existing Music Library to another computer, use the "Backup Restore tool" to back up your current Music Library, install "MUSIC PLAYER" on the second computer, and then restore the backup data.

4. Compatibility with Other Music Player Software
Q1. Can I export the tracks in my Music Library to OpenMG compliant application ?

A1. You can export the tracks in your Music Library to OpenMG compliant application such as "SonicStage" or "OpenMG Jukebox" and play them back. These applications are used to check out tracks to OpenMG compatible device such as Net MD.
Setting "MUSIC PLAYER" to automatically export tracks to OpenMG compliant application is convenient, as you will only need to run the OpenMG compliant application to play back the exported tracks after downloading them. To enable the automatic export function, click the "MUSIC PLAYER" "Menu" button, open "Options", select the "OpenMG Export" tab and check the "Setup automatic export to OpenMG" checkbox.
Manual export is also possible. Refer to the "MUSIC PLAYER Help" for details.
* Running other OpenMG compliant application with "MUSIC PLAYER" at the same time is not recommended, as trouble or failure may occur.
Users with versions of OpenMG Jukebox earlier than ver.2.2.00 will need to upgrade, as the earlier version will disable track play back after installing "MUSIC PLAYER". When installing "MUSIC PLAYER", the installer will automatically display a dialog if an upgrade is required. Follow the instructions to upgrade.


Q2. Can I play back the tracks in my Music Library with other players such as "Windows Media Player", "Real Jukebox" or "Music Match" ?

A2. You cannot play back the tracks in your Music Library with "Windows Media Player", "Real Jukebox" or "Music Match". Similarly, "MUSIC PLAYER" cannot play back tracks from these applications.

5. Use with Audio Devices
Q1. Can I listen to the tracks in my Music Library with a portable audio device, such as Net MD?

A1. You can check out the tracks in your Music Library to OpenMG compatible device such as Net MD using OpenMG compliant application such as "SonicStage" or "OpenMG Jukebox".
Setting "MUSIC PLAYER" to automatically export tracks to OpenMG compliant application is convenient, as you will only need to run the OpenMG compliant application to play back the exported tracks after downloading them. A2. "MUSIC PLAYER" currently does not support iPOD and MP3 Player.


Q3. Can I burn tracks in my Music Library to a CD-R, and play them on a regular CD player?

A3. Tracks in your Music Library cannot be burned to a CD-R.

6. Backup Restore tool

* "Backup Restore tool" which you can find in the "MUSIC PLAYER" folder of the Start menu programs.

For users of other OpenMG compliant application,such as SonicStage, OpenMG Jukebox, etc.
"MUSIC PLAYER" shares its license database with OpenMG compliant applications. Make sure you back up and restore on each application you use.
For instance, if you rip a CD using SonicStage and/or OpenMG Jukebox after backing up Library on "MUSIC PLAYER", you must back on all applications in order to restore properly.


Q1. In what order should I back up and restore my Music Library when upgrading my operating system?


A1. Make sure you back up your Music Library before upgrading your operating system, and restore the tracks after the upgrade. Altering your system without creating backups will result in your tracks becoming inaccessible.
Follow the steps below to back up and restore your Music Library.
  1. Create backups of your tracks using the "Backup Restore tool".
  2. Upgrade your operating system.
  3. Reinstall "MUSIC PLAYER".
  4. Use the "Backup Restore tool" to restore your Music Library.
  5. Make sure that "MUSIC PLAYER" runs properly.
* Network connection is necessary to restore the Music Library.


Q2. In what order should I back up and restore my tracks in my Music Library when restoring my computer configuration?

A2. Make sure you back up your tracks in your Music Library before restoring your computer configuration, and restore the tracks afterwards. Altering your system without creating backups will result in your tracks becoming inaccessible.
Follow the steps below to back up and restore your tracks in your Music Library.
  1. Create backups of your tracks in your Music Library using the "Backup Restore tool".
  2. Restore your system.
    -1) First, restore your system to the "Installed "MUSIC PLAYER"" restore point.
    -2) Set a restore point and restore your system.
  3. Reinstall "MUSIC PLAYER".
  4. Use the "Backup Restore tool" to restore your Music Library.
  5. Run "MUSIC PLAYER" and make sure your tracks can be played back properly.
* Network connection is necessary to restore the Music Library.


Q3. Can I create backups by directly copying the files in the Music Library location?

A3. You cannot restore the backup tracks directly copied. Make sure you use the "Backup Restore tool" to create backups of your tracks.


Q4. I can not back up Music Library with CD-R.

A4. Some CD-R burning applications have restrictions on the naming of folders and files, resulting in "MUSIC PLAYER" backup data not being created correctly on CD-R or other external storage unit.

7. Troubleshooting
Q1. The sound is interrupted or there is noise when playing back tracks with "MUSIC PLAYER".

A1. You may experience interrupted sound and/or noise when running multiple tasks, e.g. having "MUSIC PLAYER" and Internet Explorer running concurrently. Try running less tasks when you experience this kind of problem.


Q2. I can't start "MUSIC PLAYER", and got Error code "0010". What should I do?

A2. This error occurs in case that the "Terminal Services" is stopped. To resovle this problem, start the "Terminal Services" on your computer.
